The NAMA-Café is an initiative that’s looking the mitigation and adaptation to the climate change in the coffee sector. It promotes a sector of low carbon emissions (that create a greenhouse effect), finding a way to reduce environmental damage, generated by the coffee production to encourage adaptation to modern technology and better ways of production. NAMA-Café pretends to rise the efficiency of small coffee producers and mills in Costa Rica, contributes to improve the quality life of the producer family through the improvement of the competitivity of the coffee section.

This initiative is part of a Framework Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE), the Coffee Institution of Costa Rica (ICAFE) and Fundecooperación para el Desarrollo Sostenible, as an organization with a lot of experience in the execution of projects at the local level along with small and medium producers of sustainable products.
