Our Contribution to the Global Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs)
We are committed to helping develop innovative and sustainable projects that are concerned about preserving the environment and minimizing the impact of their activities and are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Congruent with the motto “Think Globally and Act Locally”, Fundecooperación has focused its efforts on promoting and converting into concrete actions the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which represent a transforming vision of economic, social and environmental sustainability internationally, regionally, nationally and locally.
Given the multi-dimensional nature of the SDGs, Fundecooperación’s work directly or indirectly impacts 15 of the 17 SDGs, contributing to the achievement of several of these simultaneously.

The Women + Nature Program is an innovative financial strategy that promotes gender equity and women’s leadership in the conservation, management, and sustainable use of biodiversity. Unique in Costa Rica and the region, this program addresses the need for economic recovery with a comprehensive and multisectoral approach.
In addition, it incorporates an intersectional gender perspective into all of its financial solutions, placing nature-based solutions to the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and degradation at its core. It also tackles gender inequalities in the institutional sphere, fosters inclusive public policies, and represents a firm step forward in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Project seeks to provide access to financing to promote gender equity, women’s empowerment, and equal opportunities in biodiversity management, a sector in which significant gaps persist at the national level.
With the Natura Women’s Credit, we have created an opportunity to provide financing to MSMEs led by women entrepreneurs nationwide. Our goal is to make biodiversity a cornerstone for strengthening women’s businesses, supporting their transition to the formal sector, and offering them more opportunities and decent working conditions.
